Dataset Simulated Standard Model Physics Minimum Bias CMS 7TeV pp CERN-LHC

Description

Simulated pile-up event dataset MinBias_TuneZ2_7TeV-pythia6 in GEN-SIM format. Events were sampled from this dataset and added to simulated data to make them comparable with the 2011 collision data, see the guide to pile-up simulation.

See the description of the simulated dataset names in: About CMS simulated dataset names.

Dataset characteristics

49408233 events. 3064 files. 10.0 TiB in total.

System details

START53_LV6A1
CMSSW_5_3_32
Recommended container image for analyses is available in the following locations (see guide):
  • docker.io/cmsopendata/cmssw_5_3_32-slc6_amd64_gcc472:latest
  • gitlab-registry.cern.ch/cms-cloud/cmssw-docker-opendata/cmssw_5_3_32-slc6_amd64_gcc472:latest

How were these data generated?

These data were generated with:

Step GEN-SIM
Release: CMSSW_5_3_11_patch6
Global Tag: START53_LV4::All
Generators: pythia6
Production script (preview)
Generator parameters (preview) (link)

How were these data validated?

The generation and simulation of simulated Monte Carlo data has been validated through general CMS validation procedures.

How can you use these data?

These data are needed to add pile-up events if you generate and simulate new Monte Carlo data. See the instructions for Monte Carlo generation in the guide to event production. You can access these data through the CMS Virtual Machine. See the instructions for setting up the Virtual Machine and getting started in
